Baon Foods

Who we are

About Baon Foods

People often ask where I learned to cook, and the truth is, I didn't go to culinary school. My love for food started with something much simpler: missing the flavors of home.

Growing up, I found myself craving the dishes I remembered from the Philippines and Guam. I'd spend hours experimenting in the kitchen, trying to recreate those flavors from memory until they tasted just right. Looking back, I realize that's where my passion began.

The name Baon Foods has a story of its own. Years ago, my friends and I went to the movies, and I packed homemade food for everyone to enjoy during the show. At one point, someone nearby noticed the aroma and jokingly complained that someone had brought a lunch box into the theater. My friends couldn't stop laughing and started teasing me about my “lunch box.”

I told my husband the story and mentioned I'd thought to call it “Lunch Box.” He suggested the word baon— a Filipino term for packed food or a lunch brought from home. It immediately felt right. We had packed food for our friends that day, and now we would be packing meals for our customers. Even today, many Filipinos will say, “This is my baon,” when referring to the food they've packed to take with them. That's how Baon Foods was born — a name that represents homemade food, sharing meals, and bringing people together.

I didn't even know cooking was my love language until years later when friends reminded me that back in high school, I was always the one cooking for everyone. What came naturally to me eventually became something I couldn't imagine not doing.

As demand grew, so did the business. Lunches turned into party trays, party trays turned into catered events, and before long we were providing full-service catering complete with elegant setups, professional equipment, décor, and service staff.

Over the years, my curiosity for food continued to grow. While my roots are in Filipino cuisine, I love learning about different cultures through food. Today, our menus are inspired by Filipino, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Mexican, Italian, French and American flavors. Rather than claiming to make traditional recipes, I enjoy creating dishes with my own twist, combining familiar flavors in new and memorable ways.

One of my favorite parts of catering is creating beautiful small bites and grazing tables. I love designing food that's both delicious and easy to enjoy while guests mingle and celebrate. Whether it's a wedding cocktail hour, corporate event, graduation, or private gathering, I believe food should be as visually exciting as it is flavorful.

We're also known for our food presentation and our willingness to customize each menu. Instead of offering a one-size-fits-all menu, I enjoy working with clients to create dishes that fit their vision, tastes, and event style. Because of that, our menu is always evolving as we continue exploring new ingredients, techniques, and ideas.

For me, catering has never been just about feeding people. It's about creating an experience, bringing people together, and making every event feel a little more special, one bite at a time.
